This testimonial comes from one of my former long term students. He is a great guy who I still keep in touch with and chat about strategy from time to time. This testimonial was unsolicited but very much appreciated!
"Hi all,
I wasn't sure what the best forum was for this but I wanted to send a special thankyou to Greg for my overall development as a poker player.
Some time ago when Greg commenced coaching, I was one of his initial students, concentrating on single table sitngoes. Greg's impact was immediate, taking me from exactly break even , to a very solid winning player at the full tilt 12's, sharing with me all that he has shared in his subsequent and very original DTB videos.
But essentially that is all old news.
On the Saturday just gone, I won my first ever MTT with a field of 1000+ players, taking down one of the early FT doubles and going deep in the second for a very tidy jackpot prize. Whilst the buyins at these are only $6 each, I can confirm I have had decent cashes at much higher levels as well.
What has moved me to post though is the win got me to get reflective and analyse my view as to why I had improved as a player so much. That analysis includes the impact that Greg's coaching has had on my overall development as a player.
Essentially, Greg's value was not so much confined to the single table format, (as important as what he taught was) but lay in how he taught me to think about the game. This is the biggest factor in my improvement. What I mean by 'thinking' is that Greg's strategies will give you great tools to analyse your own game, applying them across different formats and styles. Much of what you learn will be applicable to all levels of MTT, and I have found even has application to microstakes cash games.
Of course, numerous factors will be influential in a poker players development (ie DTB membership) but, I can say without embarrassment that Greg was the single biggest factor in my evolution as a player. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
cheers all Bruce" ________________________________________________________________________________________
A lot of times I am working with players who have great long term goals. This testimonial comes from a former student who had actually made it his goal to play professionally to supplement his retirement. Congratulations on achieving your goals Charlie!
"This is Charlie saying hello. I hope you and your family are doing well. First I'll give you an update on my progress since we last talked. If you recall, one of my goals was to make $20,000 a year playing poker in my spare time. As of November 1st I am ahead $18,000. Most of this is from SNGs in Black Hawk casinos and smalll MTTs and 1/2 to 100 NLH live action. Also I finished 65th in the Seniors event at the WSOP this year. Thanks! I don't think I could have done it with out your help. I almost forgot, I took a Carnival cruise with my girl friend to the Virgin Islands in February and they had an automated Holdem table that was 1/2 to 200 and I won $1200 in my spare time. What a life!
